Biography

Kurt Bullend (b. 1959, Istanbul) is a Turkish painter whose practice leans toward hyper-realism, often centered on female figures and existential themes. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics at Marmara University but chose to pursue painting full-time, working first in charcoal and later in oil. A turning point in his practice was his encounter with hyper-realism; he studied and worked in artists’ studios in Turkey and abroad, conducted 1.5 years of research in Paris on hyper-realism, and spent two years in Moscow. Notable exhibitions include his first solo show “I Am You / Ben Senim” at Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery (2017) and participation in the group exhibition “24 Artists 81 Artworks” at the same gallery (2022–23).
