Biography

Onur Fırat Fen (b. 1984, Dursunbey, Balıkesir) is a Turkish sculptor whose monumental, black-toned wooden monoliths, reliefs, and surface works explore endurance, lost civilizations, and cosmic time. Living and working in Fethiye, he often draws on the geography and antiquity of ancient Lycia, translating star maps, inscriptions, and eroded forms into sleek, rounded masses and scored surfaces. His first solo exhibition in Istanbul, “Medeniyet Blokları (Civilization Blocks),” curated by Fırat Arapoğlu at Çağla Cabaoğlu Gallery (Nov 11, 2023–extended to Feb 29, 2024), presented the full cycle developed since 2016. Fen has also produced public works in Fethiye, including monuments to Uğur Mumcu and Yunus Nadi.
